Purpose and Rationale

Master of Social Sciences in Public Governance

Purpose:

The purpose of this program is to prepare learners for careers in the public sector and broader areas of government, including media and non-governmental organizations, by providing them with graduate-level challenges in the field of social sciences. Specific industrial psychological principles will be applied to develop effective management and leadership skills in students.

Rationale:

This qualification is structured to enhance learners' skills and competencies for successful careers in the public sector. By gaining insight into the theory and practice of public affairs, administration, and development management, students will be equipped to address the skills deficit at higher levels of public service, public-private partnerships, and non-governmental organizations in South Africa. Additionally, this program serves as a stepping stone for learners interested in pursuing further studies in Public Governance at the postgraduate level.

Outcomes
