Business, Commerce and Management Studies - Project Management
This vocational qualification aims to train learners for the South African industry, equipping them with the knowledge and skills to effectively manage low to medium level projects within any organization. Upon completion, learners will be prepared for roles such as Project Administrators, Project Coordinators, or Project Managers based on their level of expertise. The focus is on project management discipline, professional development, and career readiness. Learners will be able to manage projects, apply statistical methods, understand project management literature, handle project teams and stakeholders, manage project quality, procurement, and risk effectively. Additionally, they will develop motivation, goal orientation, inter-cultural competencies, and entrepreneurial skills.
Acknowledging the scarcity of project management skills outlined in the National Development Plan-2030 and Skills Education Training Authorities (SETA), this qualification aims to address the need for skilled project managers to facilitate national infrastructure improvements and enhance the public health system. By incorporating the Project Management Body of Knowledge (PMBOK), this qualification meets professional standards. The program was developed with input from stakeholders, academic peers, and employers to ensure its relevance. It aims to bridge the gap in formal project management training at the undergraduate level and contribute to the professionalization of the field. Moreover, it provides a pathway for learners interested in both vocational and academic careers in project management, enabling progression in line with industry standards and methodologies like PMBOK and PRINCE2.
By aligning assessment criteria with exit level outcomes, learners will be able to demonstrate their understanding and application of project management principles effectively.
