Business, Commerce and Management Studies - Generic Management
The purpose of this qualification is to produce agricultural managers who will be able to critically review literature, write scientific papers, and formally present and defend their work across the broad field of Agricultural Management. They are also expected to integrate general theory and application of Agricultural Management with the knowledge gained, engage critically in current debates concerning development initiatives, and formulate Agricultural Management strategies to promote the long-term sustainability of farm businesses.
Agricultural development, marketing, and finance are becoming increasingly important fields that require individuals with broad-based training in agriculture, commerce, and social sciences. This qualification emphasizes job mobility and opens up various career opportunities in commercial banks, National Department of Agriculture, farming, agribusiness sector, and consulting.
By structuring the information in this way, it provides a clear and concise understanding of the purpose and rationale of the qualification.

Integrated Assessment Approach:
The qualification and all modules are structured around a problem-solving and learning-centered approach. They aim to foster supervised learning, critical and focused inquiry/thinking, and experiential learning within a project-oriented environment. Real case studies will be presented to students, enabling them to develop comprehensive solutions to Earth Science-related challenges. This will be achieved through lectures, knowledge outcome accomplishments, and supervised project components in assignments.
Learning Resources:
Module information and lecture notes are conveniently accessible on Moodle, providing students with easy access to course materials. Continuous assessment-based components are incorporated into all modules through assignments. Final year modules culminate in a summative examination, which is externally moderated in accordance with institutional policies. At least 50% of the assessments for final year modules will undergo external moderation by an approved external examiner.
Assessment Methods:
Group and class assignments, integrated written and/or oral presentations, as well as tests and examinations, are utilized as assessment methods to evaluate students' understanding and application of course content.
By utilizing these integrated assessment criteria and methods, students will be equipped with the necessary skills and knowledge to excel in Earth Science-related challenges and real-world scenarios.
