Purpose and Rationale

Purpose: The intended purpose of the qualification is to give learners an introduction to the general formative knowledge in the field of housing, equipping them with the skills needed to address housing and related challenges.

Rationale: The qualification aims to increase the number of practitioners in the Housing field, providing them with the necessary foundational knowledge to be successful in their roles and make a positive impact in the field of housing.

Outcomes

  1. Be conversant with the role of housing in influencing the economic, social, political, technical, cultural and institutional landscape of a country.

Assessment Criteria

The following Associated Assessment Criteria will be used in an integrated manner across the Exit Level Outcomes:

  1. Demonstrate knowledge of the role of housing in influencing the economic, social, political, technical, cultural, and institutional landscape of a country.
  2. Analyse and interpret housing policy, and have the basic knowledge of how to conduct research.
  3. Apply the principles, concepts, and hard skills of site analysis and subdivision.
  4. Demonstrate knowledge of housing project management and implementation processes, and demonstrate competence to monitor progress in the housing development process.

Integrated Assessment:

  • Continuous assessment is used for integrated learning.
  • Tutorial classes are utilized for integrated assessment.
  • The continuous assessment system provides regular feedback on assignments for continuous learning and improved work quality.
  • All learners must meet the 'Duly Performed' (DP) requirement before participating in summative portfolios or exams.

Specific Assessment Tasks:

  1. Prepare a site visit report on a housing development project demonstrating knowledge of the Housing project management process.
  2. Present a Housing project management portfolio and implementation plan explaining the role of Housing in influencing the economic, social, political, technical, cultural, and institutional landscapes of the country through seminars and essays.
  3. Analyse and interpret Housing policies.
  4. Conduct independent research on housing-related issues.
  5. Prepare a short dissertation.
  6. Apply the principles, concepts, and hard skills of site analysis and residential layout subdivision.
