Purpose and Rationale

Program Objectives:

  1. To equip students with advanced knowledge and skills in financial accountancy, taxation, and management accounting.
  2. To prepare students for careers in accounting and management fields in both private and public sectors, contributing to sustainable growth and development.
  3. To develop competent leaders with cross-functional technical knowledge to drive sustainable development and prosperity.
  4. To provide students with research skills and academic foundation for further studies in accounting sciences.

A demonstrated ability to conduct research of limited scope in the field of taxation. 14.In the case of the in Advanced Taxation: The advanced skills and technical background in taxation to enter into a career as tax consultant in the private and public sector. A demonstrated ability to conduct research of limited scope in the field of taxation.
  14. In the case of the BComm Hons in Management Accounting: A demonstrated ability to successfully complete the qualifying examination as set by the Charted Institute of Management Accountants. The advanced skills and technical background to enter into a career with an institution with the purpose of gaining required practical experience in order to qualify as a chartered management accountant. A demonstrated ability to conduct research of limited scope in the field of Management Accounting and Financial Management.
  15. In the case of the BComm Hons in Financial Accounting: A demonstrated ability to successfully complete the qualifying examination as set by the Chartered Association of Certified Accountants. The advanced skills and technical background in accounting subjects to enter into articles with an accredited accountant in public practise with a view of qualifying as a Certified Accountant or to enter into a career as accountant in the private or public sector. A demonstrated ability to conduct research of limited scope in the field of Financial Accounting or related subjects.

Assessment Criteria

  1. The assessment used for this qualification ensures that the purpose of the qualification is achieved.
  2. A range of formative and summative assessment methods such as simulations, computer assignments, workplace assessments, written and oral presentations, and examinations are used.
  3. The required range of modalities is used integratively to assess whether the specified outcomes have been achieved.
  4. From the assessment of samples, generalizing to a domain takes place in a judicious and planned way to ensure reliability.
  5. The assessment used meets the standard and level of achievement for NQF Level 7. Integrated Assessment: Integrated Assessment takes place in terms of a variety of procedures such as cross-disciplinary assignments, simulations, workplace assessments, written examinations, and oral presentations.
