The global need for educational leadership and management training is evident, with the South African Department of Basic Education recognizing the importance of qualified school leaders in the education system. However, the demand for qualified school leaders exceeds the current capacity of higher education institutions. Therefore, this program aims to address the need for skilled educational leaders within the South African school education system.

Challenges and Opportunities:

  • Limited opportunities for promotions within the education system, with most roles requiring leadership and management skills.
  • Lack of access to education leadership and management training for teachers in remote areas.
  • Continuous evolution in leadership and management practices necessitates ongoing research and insights.
  • Development of research capacity through academic postgraduate qualifications to contribute to further research in the field.

By providing distance learning opportunities, this program aims to reach educators across South Africa, equip them with the necessary skills, and cultivate a pool of skilled educational leaders and researchers in the field of educational leadership and management.
