The primary purpose of this qualification is to equip qualifiers with Postgraduate level knowledge, specific skills, and applied competence in a range of fields within the biological sciences. This will offer opportunities for personal intellectual growth, economic activity in diverse sectors, and valuable contributions to society.
The second purpose is to produce a substantial number of honours graduates in different biological science fields, aiming to expand the local leadership base in innovative, knowledge-based economic and scholarly endeavors within South Africa.
Furthermore, the qualification aims to supply South Africa with a pool of scientists ready to embark on a research career.
Students will be trained to proficiently engage in theoretical and experimental biological science, enhancing their self-confidence in these practices.
Lastly, the qualification seeks to prepare students for advanced graduate studies, paving the way for further academic and professional development.
