Purpose and Rationale

Training Professionals in Crop Protection

The aim of our program is to train professionals as strategic managers and subject matter specialists in agriculture and rural development, specifically tailored to the South and Southern African context. Upon completion of our postgraduate course, students will possess advanced knowledge in Crop Protection, allowing them to effectively address challenges in plant disease development, insect pest outbreaks, and weed infestations.

Program Objectives:

  1. Comprehensive Understanding: Gain in-depth knowledge of crop protection concepts, including disease development, insect pest outbreaks, and strategies for control.

  2. Personal Development: Provide opportunities for continued personal intellectual growth and skill development.

  3. Economic Opportunities: Equip students with the skills necessary for gainful economic activity within the agricultural sector.

  4. Social Contributions: Enable students to make rewarding contributions to society through sustainable crop production practices.

  5. Specialization in Extension Services: Specialize in the dissemination of crop protection information to growers and small-scale farmers, ensuring sustainable crop production practices are implemented.
