Purpose and Rationale

This programme is designed to provide students interested in pursuing research in Human Movement Studies with comprehensive knowledge and research skills. The curriculum covers a range of disciplines, enabling students to explore research advancements in different areas within Human Movement Studies to identify a suitable research focus. While students have the option to conclude their studies after obtaining the Degree, the programme aims to equip students for autonomous research at a Master's Level.

Outcomes

  1. Interpret, analyse and contextualise research findings in the sub-disciplines of Human Movement Studies.
  2. Understand and apply the theoretical foundations of the various sub-disciplines of Human Movement Studies.
  3. Understand and apply the methodological frameworks that are most appropriate to doing research in the various sub-disciplines of Human Movement Studies.

Assessment Criteria

Associated Assessment Criteria for Exit Level Outcomes:

  1. Develop and present a research proposal independently:

    • Ability to formulate a clear research question.
    • Demonstrate understanding of research methodology.
    • Present research proposal coherently and logically.
  2. Employ critical thinking skills during debates regarding Human Movement Studies subject matter:

    • Analyze and evaluate different perspectives.
    • Formulate well-reasoned arguments.
    • Engage in constructive debates with peers.
  3. Read and examine professional and academic texts with insight:

    • Identify key concepts and main ideas.
    • Critically evaluate the content.
    • Apply insights to enhance understanding of the subject matter.

Integrated Assessment:

  • Formal end of course assessment (Summative):

    • Final exams evaluating knowledge and skills acquired throughout the course.
  • Continuing formal assessment (Formative and Summative):

    • Regular quizzes, assignments, and presentations to track progress and provide feedback.
  • Continuing informal assessment (Formative):

    • Classroom discussions, group activities, and peer evaluations to encourage active participation and facilitate learning.
