Purpose

The qualification aims to demonstrate knowledge, skills, and applied competence in the field of study that provide opportunities for continued personal growth, gainful economic activity, and rewarding contributions to society. It will enable qualifiers to apply educational knowledge, skills, principles, and methods to exercise general management skills required in the business, corporate, and financial sectors at the middle management level.

Rationale

This qualification will address the need in the business sector to develop individuals with focused Business Management knowledge, ethics, and good practice. The program is designed to meet the needs of the community, business and industry, private sector, and the economic, business, and financial environments. It emphasizes the importance of life-long learning and the value of education in society.

Outcomes

  1. Understand the concepts and principles necessary for functioning in a business or industrial environment.
  2. Be aware of the critical techniques necessary for the study and application of business principles and the ability to evaluate competing theories and approaches.

  • Understanding of Major Sub-disciplines: Display comprehension, both in theory and practice, of the principles, theories, and facts in the major sub-disciplines of the Degree.
  • Analytical and Evaluative Skills: Ability to analyze and evaluate various information sources and present findings coherently in a well-structured essay.
  • Detailed Understanding of Major Sub-discipline: Demonstrate a comprehensive understanding of the core principles, theories, and facts within a major sub-discipline.
  • Complete Understanding of Multiple Topics: Show mastery in more than one topic within the sub-discipline.
  • Research, Problem Solving, and Critical Thinking: Exhibit basic research skills, creative problem-solving abilities, and critical thinking.
  • Develop Communicative Skills: Proficiency in structuring logical arguments both in written form and verbally.

Integrated Assessment Approach:

  • Horizontal and Vertical Integration: Ensures that exit level outcomes are achieved through an integrated approach.
  • Continuous and Formative Assessments (60%): Includes tests, assignments, quizzes, presentations, and group work that assess across and within learning outcomes.
  • Summative Assessment (40%): Consists of a three-hour examination paper at the end of each semester.
  • Alignment with University Rules: Assessment practices align with University Rules and the assessment policy of student learning.
