Advanced Certificate in Business Management and Business Analysis

Purpose: The purpose of the Advanced Certificate is to equip learners with intermediate business management theories and Business Analysis competencies to supplement their practical experience in the workplace. This will enable them to act in a supervisory and managerial capacity effectively.

Rationale: The customization of qualifications to the industry is a dynamic feature of the institution as a comprehensive educational provider. Career-oriented qualifications are designed to meet the specified needs of the industry, providing enough learning to facilitate access to education in a cost-effective, time-efficient, and resource-friendly manner. This qualification is tailored to specific adult learners who seek to upgrade their skills and knowledge within their workplace context.

  1. Analyse an organisation, identify their strategic objectives and recommend a strategy to achieve these objectives.
  2. Explain basic economic principles.
  3. Relate change management principles and theories to effect change within the organisation.
  4. Apply international management principles in establishing and manage a global business mind set within international organisations.
  5. Use management accounting principles to develop an operational budget and controlling the budget.
  6. Use accepted risk management terminology and the risk management framework.

  1. Apply problem-solving capabilities to provided case studies relating to the achievement of organisational strategic objectives.
  2. Provide a coherent written or verbal explanation on assessed content relating to economic principals.
  3. Demonstrate the ability to apply innovative, creative ideas to various scenarios created as a part of continuous assessment.
  4. Demonstrate an understanding of global business by successfully applying international management principles to various case studies.
  5. Demonstrate the ability to develop and control a budget through the effective use of relevant/applicable accounting principles.
  6. Effective utilisation of the risk management framework.
  7. Be able to provide explanations for basic operations theoretical concepts.
  8. Be able to provide an explanation on the role and purpose of Information Technology in the workplace.
  9. Utilisation of problem-solving capabilities to identify any possible services gaps.
  10. Be able to interpret supply chain management principles.

Integrated Assessment:

  • Assessment across the qualification forms an integral part of the teaching and learning process for this programme.
  • Learners are required to comply with the minimum assessments set for the level of the qualification, as per the Institution's Assessment Policy.
  • Assessments vary depending on the module and the outcomes of the module, however all modules are formatively and summatively assessed.
  • The assessment of theoretical modules is usually in the form of assignments, practicals, and written tests or examinations.
  • Formative assessment opportunities are not formally recorded and take the form of class tests, question and answer sessions, and monitoring of practical work.
  • Summative assessment leads to the final judgmental mark in accordance with the institution's Assessment Policy.
  • Assessments for theoretical modules will be in the form of assignments and written tests or practical examinations.
  • Integrated assessments/case studies also take place through a variety of assignments, for example, those completed in industry or those that assess aggregated knowledge acquired (such as in a capstone module).
