Purpose and Rationale

Qualification Purpose:

The purpose of this qualification is to provide learners with an advanced theoretical and practical knowledge about the nature of business informatics. It aims to prepare learners for research-based Postgraduate study. This qualification serves to deepen the learner's expertise in the business informatics discipline and aims to develop research capacity in the methodology and techniques of Business Informatics.

Outcomes

  • Comprehensive knowledge of agricultural economics, including farm management, production economics, resource economics, agricultural marketing, agricultural and rural finance, and agricultural policy
  • Ability to negotiate and plan strategically
  • In-depth knowledge of agricultural institutions and systems
  • Knowledge of research methodology and successful application
  • Theoretical basis for problem-solving in natural and biological resources

Integrated Assessment

  • Formative Assessment: Includes activities in study guides, self-assessment questions, and written assignments in the form of MCQs, short questions, essays, or a combination. Students submit three assignments per module, contributing a minimum of 20% towards the final mark, with the remaining mark from the examination.
  • Feedback: Provided on activities, self-assessment questions, and assignments in study guides, tutorial letters, and marked assignments. Individual feedback is given by assessors, while general feedback is provided in tutorial letters.
  • Summative Assessment: Conducted through a two-hour examination per module, with feedback available to individual students upon request.
