These outcomes and assessment criteria are clearly communicated to students to guide assessment practices at the NWU. Integrated assessment, which evaluates the main purpose and key outcomes of the qualification, is included at least once in the assessment activities for this qualification.
Formative assessment methods such as class tests and integrated assignments make up a maximum of 50% of the pass mark. Summative assessment is conducted through 2 to 3 hour written examinations per module, accounting for the remaining 50% of the pass mark.
A crucial component of the integrated assessment is the research report or mini-dissertation, carrying a credit value of 32. Students are required to submit this report under the supervision of a designated supervisor.
