The purpose of the qualification is to equip students with a systematic and coherent body of knowledge and an understanding of underlying discipline-related theories, concepts, and principles with a view to further their studies in accounting. It aims to provide students with a sufficient depth of knowledge and skills to give opportunities for continued personal intellectual growth, including postgraduate study. Additionally, it aims to prepare students for gainful economic activity in a career within accounting departments or as teachers. The qualification also aims to produce graduates who demonstrate initiative, responsibility, professionalism, and ethics in their roles within the economy and society.

The associated assessment criteria are applied in an integrated manner to the Exit level Outcomes, ensuring a systematic and thorough knowledge and understanding of fundamental terms, concepts, facts, principles, rules, and theories. Students are able to analyze, evaluate, and apply these concepts effectively. They also demonstrate the ability to apply discipline-related methods of scientific inquiry and independently validate, evaluate, and manage sources of information.
Moreover, students are able to apply appropriate methods or practices to resolve complex discipline-related problems and critically reflect on introducing changes within related practices. Professional and ethical behavior within academic and discipline-related environments, taking into consideration societal and cultural factors, is emphasized.
Furthermore, students effectively communicate scientific understanding, their own opinions and ideas, and written or oral arguments using appropriate discipline-related and academic discourse, as well as technology. They demonstrate effective functioning as a member or leader of a team in scientific projects or investigations, with self-directed management of learning activities and responsibility for their own learning progress.
Integrated Assessment methods include continuous formative assessment such as class tests, homework, and written assignments, which provide feedback on students' progress in achieving specific learning outcomes. Semester tests also contribute to integrated formative assessment. Summative assessment, in the form of a 3-hour written examination, evaluates the extent to which students have attained the Exit-Level Outcomes of the qualification. This holistic approach ensures that students are well-rounded and prepared for their future careers.
